Saturday 10th November 2018 - Remembrance readings at the "Silent Soldier" memorial at Lancing Railway Station 10.00am
10th November 2018

Below are details of the above event to be held at the Railway Station Lancing from Keep Lancing Lovely. Please click here to access the Keep Lancing Lovely website.

Keep Lancing Lovely has recently become "Station Partners" with GTR, the owners of "Southern Trains" at Lancing Railway Station. This is a very exciting opportunity for us to help look after the railway station, promote public transport and further our own remit to "Keep Lancing Lovely". Our first event at the station will be on Saturday 10th November from 10.00am until 10.30am when we will be remembering the lives and the sacrifices of those who worked at Lancing Carriage Works who enlisted and died in World War One.

There will be a focus on two of those named on the Lancing War Memorials outside Lancing Parish Hall, both of whom lived in Lancing and one of whom worked at the railway station. Later in October, we will be taking delivery of a "silent soldier" that will be safely housed in the "gateside" entrance, the one with the ticket barriers to the south platform at the station (near to Asda). The silent soldier is an initiative with the Royal British Legion and Southern as part of the remembrance period at all station partnerships. We are creating a story board that will also be on display featuring poetry, photographs and information about those who lost their lives. On the day there will be a series of readings to reflect the sombre day and remembrance.

If you are able, please join us on Saturday 10th November for this event.
