Lancing Parish Council is delighted to announce that we have been awarded a GOLD AWARD by the judging panel of the South & South East in Bloom Committee in the Parishes in Bloom category. This fantastic achievement recognises the hard work, dedication and community spirit that continues to drive improvements across Lancing.

Earlier this year, the Parish Council entered the South & South East in Bloom competition, with judging taking place in July. The visit was hosted by our Operations Manager – Mark Harwood,  who guided the judge through a detailed presentation showcasing the wide range of work carried out by the Parish Council and our strong partnerships with local community groups and organisations.

Following the presentation, the judge was taken on a tour of key sites across Lancing, including:

  • The Allotments
  • The Community Garden
  • The Tiny Forest
  • High Street planters
  • Monks Recreation Ground

These locations provided a snapshot of the projects we are involved in and the positive impact being made throughout the parish.

Judging Criteria

The Parish Council was assessed across three key areas:

  • Community Involvement – Demonstrating how we include residents in our work and future planning.
  • Environmental Responsibility – Showing how we engage the community in conserving local habitats and protecting our heritage.
  • Gardening, Horticulture & Conservation Achievement – Encouraging good gardening and horticultural practices throughout the community.

 High Street Planter Improvements

Earlier this year, Lancing Parish Council took ownership of the planters along the main high street from Adur District Council. We were also successful in securing a grant to install an additional eight planters in South Street as part of the Pollinators Highway initiative. Alongside this, several older planters have been replaced with new designs that are more sustainable and require less maintenance.

 A Commitment to Lancing

The Parish Council remains fully committed to promoting community values and pride in Lancing. By working in close partnership with residents, volunteers and local organisations, we continue to make Lancing a better place to live, work, visit and enjoy.

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this achievement — this GOLD AWARD truly belongs to the whole Lancing community.
