As 2025 draws to a close, we are looking back with huge pride and gratitude at everything we have achieved together this year. Thank you to every resident, volunteer, business, community group who made it possible, your support and community spirit have been incredible!
This ongoing work is guided by our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan as we continue shaping Lancing’s future together.
Highlights from 2025
Community Events & Family Fun
- Our popular seasonal fayres and trails this year have brought many families together and proven to be very popular for all, with them being our busiest yet!
- A hugely successful Holiday Activities programme, with creative, fun and inclusive sessions enjoyed by local children and families.
- The Remembrance Day Parade, which once again provided a dignified and respectful opportunity for the community to come together.
80th Anniversary of VE Day & VJ Day Commemorations
- This year we were honoured to mark both the 80th Anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day, coming together as a community to remember, reflect and pay tribute. The commemorations were a powerful reminder of the importance of peace, shared history and community spirit.
New Initiatives Supporting Our Community
- The launch of the Monthly Lunch Club at Lancing Parish Hall, offering affordable, nutritious meals and a warm place to meet new friends.
Celebrating Creativity & Conversation
- Our Gallery Corridor space has enabled local artists and community organisations to exhibit their work right here in Lancing. The exhibitions have created opportunities for meaningful conversation, reflection and strong talking points for residents and visitors alike.
Celebrating Local Green Spaces & Projects
- The Lancing Gardening Competition encouraged residents to beautify gardens and support pollinators.
- We were awarded a GOLD Award in the South & South East in Bloom competition in the Parishes in Bloom category.
- Lancing Community Garden found a permanent home at East Lancing Recreational Ground, providing fresh vegetables for the Lancing & Sompting Food Bank. It has also created a welcoming space for volunteers to work in the garden, supporting wellbeing, learning, and community connection.
Improvements Around the Parish
- New lighting installed at the Monks Recreation Ground access path, making the area safer for everyone.
Protecting Our Coastline
- We have secured agreement from the Environment Agency to replace the mitigation pipe and secure Widewater lagoon’s future for years to come. Between January and March next year, the part of the pipe that runs between the sea and the coastal footpath will be replaced during low tides.
Keeping You Informed
- We are keeping residents up to date with community news, events, and opportunities to get involved throughout the year via our online newsletter.
Thank You for Being Part of Our Community!
From fun at our events to thoughtful conversations at lunch club, 2025 has been all about connection, creativity, and community spirit. We can’t wait to see what we will achieve together in 2026!
Wishing you all a wonderful festive season and a very Happy New Year!
